walleyes will …
walleyes will definately hold in or near weeds. weeds are often overlooked by walleye fisherman. look for the weeds closest to deep water and try fishing where the weedline ends or the side of the weedbed where the wind is blowing into. especially if the wind has been blowing in that direction for a few days. when you find them take note of the time date wind direction and temp. walleye are predictable. all you need to do is find the pattern.

Ivo is fishing the …
Ivo is fishing the eastern basin, and those walleye tend to hold deeper. But thanks for sharing your tips on the Western basin walleyes.
We would like to film one of our TV shows there this summer, for trout & walleye using the Viper Spoon (which we found to be much more productive than worm harnesses)
Sounds like you’re into some great fishing right now, jigging for walleyes..which is a lot of fun!
Thanks again for writing in & sharing your tip with us. Good luck on the water!

he’s taking the hard way to catch walleye on erie….stay around 22-25 ft of water while trolling with a worm harness and either a dipsy or planar board and your money….we limit out everytime we go out within an hour or two. Somtimes we throw on a rapala or a spoon to switch it up but very rarely….were slaying the walleye right now jigging for them on the west side of lake erie…Port clinton/oak harbor area using purple hair jig vertical bouncing off the bottom! goodluck

They will both work …
They will both work, but scented will give you an advantage, as well as leave a scent trail.
If you do not have a scented bait, you can spray it with some scent….if not, just go with out as a plain “unscented” bait will still work!
Good luck & good fishing.

Thanks for writing …
Thanks for writing in to us & sharing your feedback. In order to accommodate the heavy pull of the dipsy divers, a heavier/longer rod is preferred…otherwise, a medium action rod would be perfect, just as you indicated!
Thanks again for writing in & until next time, good luck & good fishing.

Plastic worms work …
Plastic worms work great on Viper Spoons & they should also work on crawler harnesses.
I would suggest using some sort of scented artificial worm. In particular, the Berkly power bait or gulp products are great.
Scented baits will not only produce a scent trail, but also give that extra nudge that fish sometimes need to bite.
Thanks for writing in & we’re glad you enjoyed the video. Good luck on the water & good fishin’!
